On clear days, you can see both coasts of the Island—with sweeping views of the Georgia Strait and Alberni Inlet
It’s believed the mountain was named by Captain George Richards in 1853 in honor of British cartographers Aaron and John Arrowsmith
Local Tip:Start early, bring poles, and pack layers—the weather can change quickly above the treeline. And don’t forget your camera… the summit views are unreal.
Just over 2 hours from Victoria, Mt. Mark offers an unforgettable day trip for hiking enthusiasts. This trail is not for the faint of heart — with steep climbs, 17 ropes, and nearly 900m of elevation gain — but the reward is so worth it.
Lola and I reached the summit to panoramic views that made every step worthwhile. The trail winds through lush forest, rocky scrambles, and serene stretches of wilderness, making it one of my new favourite local adventures.
